In 2002,
Browntown stepped into the North East cover band scene confident yet
curious. Most bands dominating the scene had 4 - 6 members and
played some great rock. The standard was set by these bands and the crowds
loved them. This is why Browntown was wondering if they would
be accepted or rejected because of their extreme contradiction to
the norm. They were a 9 piece horn band that played a little
rock, a little more hip-hop, but a whole lot of funk!
Browntown was a collaboration of the top musicians from
several predominant universities. Each member not only
possessed great musical ability but also had incredible stage
presence. The show and sound were an
instant hit! They not only captured the hearts of clubs owners
and thousands of fans, but earned the respect and admiration of all
the bands and musicians they met. Browntown was a band loved
by all.
In 2007, after
touring all over PA, NJ, MD, VA, WV, and DE, the band slowed down to
pursue other projects. Because of musical talent
with in the band, members have gone on to do national and
international tours, become music educators and entertainment
directors, as well as become the first call musicians for the bands
still playing the scene.
Due to
the overwhelming requests by fans and clubs though, Browntown has
always been around for the occasional show when their individual
professional demands allow it. However, as the cover band
scene has gradually moved away from rock and moved toward pop,
dance, and hip-hop, the demand for Browntown has increased much.
With that we are happy to announce a
re-birth coming in 2011! Prepare
yourselves as Browntown poises for world domination!
